Jimmy Creech, the Chair of the NCSJP Board of Directors, has recently written a book about his life-long fight for equal treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people both in the church and in society at large. The book, Adam’s Gift: A Memoir of a Pastor’s Calling to Defy the Church’s Persecution of Lesbians and Gays, is available through NCSJP for 20% the cover price, and all proceeds from the sale made on the site will benefit the work of NCSJP in helping to end inequality in North Carolina in all its ugly forms.
As a Christian, Creech came to believe that discriminating against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people was morally wrong. This understanding compelled him to perform same-gender commitment ceremonies, which conflicted with church directives. Creech was tried twice by The United Methodist Church, and, after the second trial, his ordination credentials were revoked. Adam’s Gift is a moving story and an important chapter in the unfinished struggle for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender civil and human rights.
As a special offer to NCSJP supporters, Mr. Creech has generously offered to personally sign every copy of his book that is purchased through NCSJP, and all proceeds from the sale of the book on this site will go toward furthering the mission of NCSJP in ending discrimination, in all it’s ugly forms, in North Carolina.
