Tedesco Gets Religion
Our old friend John Tedesco apparently found some religion last week while speaking to the Northern Wake Republican Club, when he told the assembled group that three local organizations (the NAACP, the Great Schools in Wake Coalition and Raleigh FIST) constituted an “unholy trinity”, united against the success of the school board. He also said that outside figures who have spoken out against the demolition of the Wake County School Board diversity policy, including President Bill Clinton, that they were afraid of the Board’s success, and are therefore attacking Board members.
Tisk, tisk, tisk. Sticks and stones, Mr. Tedesco…
As one of the original members of Great Schools in Wake, NCSJP is rather proud to be considered “unholy” by the likes of Mr. Tedesco. It is not surprising that he isn’t a fan of the work GSIW and the NAACP is doing against the outrageous actions of the school board. Now, why he is picking on Raleigh FIST we’re not exactly sure, but if they are against dropping the diversity policy, then we are proud to stand with them, and anyone else who opposed this action.
And for saying that public figures such as President Clinton are afraid of the Board’s success… that is just ignorance. I’m sorry – there is no other explanation for it. Just because everyone who know anything about education disagrees with your policy analysis, does not make them afraid of your success. If you actually had any success to be afraid of, that is. So far, we are all still waiting for that.
Regarding his pronouncement of unholiness, we’re not exactly sure what religious credentials Mr. Tedesco brings to the pulpit when casts dispersions and pronounces others to be unholy, but Rev. Dr. Barber, Director of the NC-NAACP and pastor at Greenleaf Baptist Church, holds more than a few divinity degrees, and to the best of my knowledge, has not pronounced anyone to be anything other than children of God. Perhaps the Rev. Tedeso might take a note or two from his fellow clergy.
But it isn’t the Bible that said it best – it really is Mother Goose. Sticks and stones may break our bones but John – we really don’t need you.
