Proximity, Choice, Stability, Achievement
In response to the Board of Education’s call for public input into the emerging Student Assignment plan, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Wake Education Partnership announced that they will hire education consultant Michael Alves to develop a Controlled Choice Student Assignment plan based on three criteria identified by the Wake Board of Education–Proximity, Choice, Stability–as well as a fourth–Student Achievement.
The group announced today at a press conference that they will retain and hire Mr. Alves, who has developed Controlled Choice plans throughout the nation, to construct a plan along those four criteria. The Chamber and WEP will submit the plan, expected to be released in late fall/early winter, as part of that public input process. The entire press conference is available online at WRAL, along with a summary story.
